ESTHETICS

What will you learn
Florida Academy of Beauty will prepare you from start to finish to work in a spa or to start your own practice. Every module begins with theory, followed by hands-on training. The modules consists of: Anatomy, Skin Analysis, Skin Care Products, Facials, Hair Removal, Makeup, Sanitation and Salon Management.

Prerequisites
No prior skin care experience needed.  Prospective students must pass 10th grade English before enrolling. A high school diploma or GED is not required.

Course Duration
220 hours.  If you attend classes two days per week from 9am to 9pm, you will complete the course in 2.5 months.

We have two English classes: the first class runs Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 9pm and the second class runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 9pm. Students can work with the instructor to set their schedules as needed (ex. daytime only or nighttime only)

We also have a Spanish class which runs Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

At the end of the course, you will test with our lead instructors. You do not need to sit for a state exam.

Total Tuition
$3,490. This includes 2.5 months of instruction, supplies, a Dermalogica Student kit, and all state board license and registration fees.

FAB is a Dermalogica Partnership School so you will be trained in using the Dermalogica line of products. You also have the free option of being certified in the Dermalogica lineup as part of your instruction.

We use the latest edition of Milady’s esthetics textbook, workbook and exam review books which can be purchased via Amazon.  The ISBN numbers are listed below in the FAQ.

Only $600 is due at enrollment.  The balance of tuition can be spread out over the program.  This equates to $970 per month until graduation.  You will get a $200 discount on the program if you signup and pay in full using cash, check or Zelle.

We do not offer federal student loans or financial aid as this program is too short to qualify. Most students will attest that this program is one of the best bang-for-your-buck programs in Orlando. Most students recoup their tuition within three months after graduation when working in a spa.

Graduation
At the end of the course, you will test with our lead instructor. You do not need to sit for a state exam to become a licensed esthetician.

As a licensed esthetician, you are ready to work at a spa or to start your own salon. Once you have secured your license, it is highly recommended that you continue with your Full Specialist license as many spas value the range and flexibility of the additional training.

When can I start?

Both English and Spanish classes operate on a revolving 10-week “wheel.” You can start any Monday, Wednesday (English) or Friday (Spanish) from weeks 1 to 7.  However, there is a blackout period for enrollments on weeks 8 to 10 due to exams.

For example, if you start in on week 3 of the current wheel, you would complete until week 10 and then finish when the class rotates past week 2.

I can only attend days or nights. Can I still enroll?

As long as you complete all of the topics covered in the wheel, you can work with your instructor on the schedule.  For instance, if you can only attend the English class at nights, you should complete every segment of the wheel within 5 months.

If you are bilingual, you could attend days-only from Monday to Thursday and complete the program within 10 weeks by attending both English and Spanish classes.

Do you offer financial aid?

Federal financial aid only applies for programs that are above 600 hours. Since Florida only requires 220 hours for a Facial Specialist license, federal funding does not apply for the Skin Care programs in most schools in Florida.

We offer payment plans so you only need to pay $600 at enrollment and the balance can be paid monthly while you are in school.

What is the ultimate cost versus a school that offers financial aid

The typical cost of a Full Specialst program for a school that offers financial aid is $10,000.  If you qualify, the government will give you a maximum of $6,495 in Pell grants which you do not need to pay back.  This leaves you with $3,505 which you need to borrow from the federal government in the form of student loans.

At Florida Academy of Beauty, the Esthetics program costs $3,490.  The total cost of our program is cheaper than schools that offer financial aid because the Pell grant does not cover the total cost.

You can enroll in the program with a $600 deposit.  Then it is $970 per month until full payment is made or until you graduate.

What books are required for the class?

We use the latest Milady textbooks and workbooks.  Please bring the books (or e-books) to your first day of class:
